‘The Big Swap’ Fairtrade Fortnight, 22 February – 7 March 2010

By suzannei on December 7, 2009

QPSW is encouraging Friends and others to help raise awareness of the benefits of Fairtrade by taking part in Fairtrade Fortnight 2010.  The theme for Fairtrade Fortnight 2010 is  ‘The Big Swap’ and as part of this Fairtrade supporters will be asking the nation to swap their usual, sugar, oranges, socks, toiletries and other items for their Fairtrade equivalents.

Why not get involved?

I suspect that many Quakernomics readers are already involved in the promotion of Fairtrade.  Whether or not you are already engaged, here are some ideas about things you could do:

  • Hold a Fairtrade stall where people can sample Fairtrade products
  • Organise a talk, debate or discussion about Fairtrade and trade justice
  • Ensure that your Meeting, office, school etc uses Fairtrade products
  • Encourage your town, place of worship, workplace, school or university to  achieve Fairtrade status

For more ideas and for information on resources to support involvement in Fairtrade Fortnight see: http://www.quaker.org.uk/fairtrade

What are you doing for Fairtrade fortnight?  Please let other Quakernomics users know.
