At last this last week we got a vague glimpse of the ‘elephant in the room’ whose overpowering influence we have all felt for the last how many years, though it remained unnamed - the IMF! And on the same day as the IMF announced they were proposing taxes on banks – just like they decided more than a decade ago that every country in the world should de-regulate its banking system and insisted on this either via loan conditions or yearly ‘advice’ to treasuries… on the same day, if we needed further proof of their influence, behold Ken Clarke then tells us that this is the case - indeed, he tells us that the IMF will be in to sort us out if we don’t give the Tories a majority! It does beggar belief that no-one has chosen to attribute any of the blame for the banking crisis to this all-powerful global economic institution – yet?
