Comment on Low Carbon Growth and Green Development Emerging Policy Papers from DfiD

By Alisonp on March 29, 2010

DfiD are in the process of preparing two new emerging policy papers (thinkpieces) on Low Carbon Growth and Green Development.

The first paper already exists in draft form and the second is scheduled to be produced this spring. QPSW staff will have the opportunity to meet with DfiD officials who are writing these papers, feed in our opinions and make comments.

Of course, QPSW staff would like to know your thoughts so we can take them into account as we prepare for this meeting.

Details are hazy at the moment, we don’t know when the meeting will be and we are not sure whether we will be allowed to share the draft papers  with you. However, we will use Quakernomics to share developments with you, including more details on the scope of these papers which we expect very soon. Please post your views in return.

We do know that the Low Carbon (& climate resilient) Growth paper will concentrate on growth for development overseas but acknowledges the importance and relevance of UK domestic policy. The Green Development paper will look at the wider environment/development issues and achieving green development through better ecosystem management. The paper will also look at natural asset valuation, resource tenure and forestry management.
