I can recommend a short, well-written paper by Fritjof Capra and Hazel Henderson called Qualitative Growth which is published, perhaps surprisingly, by the Institute of Chartered Accountants and Tomorrow’s Company, a business group. It sets out very clearly the fallacy that endless growth is natural. In nature living things grow to a natural size. Quantitative growth is compared with cancer which kills its host.
